Margot Robbie reportedly working on a new Tank Girl movie
Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment production company is reportedly working on a reboot of Tank Girl.
Comicbook.com is reporting that Margot Robbie’s production company is working on a reboot of Tank Girl. The report is based on a tweet from original creator Alan Martin.
In his tweet, Martin states that neither of the original creators have been contacted yet. It is also not yet known whether or not Robbie will star in this movie or not. Robbie’s other producer credits include I, Tonya, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and an upcoming Barbie movie.
The original Tank Girl comic was created in 1988 by Martin and Jamie Hewlett. The series followed the title character and her misadventures in her tank that served as her home. The comic had many punk-inspired art images and dealt with many eccentric and mature themes.
The series was adapted into a movie in 1995 and starred Lori Petty as Tank Girl and was directed by Rachel Talalay. The movie received negative reviews and was not a box office success. However, the movie has since gained a cult following.

Talalay blamed the failure of the movie on studio interference. Martin and Hewlett were brought on during the latter stages of filming, and the movie was a poor adaptation of their original comic. In 2008, Talalay made an attempt to acquire the rights for a Tank Girl reboot from MGM but was not able to do so.
Robbie and LuckyChap Entertainment will try to adapt Tank Girl for a modern audience. How faithful the new reboot will be is up in the air. The series was set in Australia, so it may be a personal story for Robbie to tell.
One thing that is certain is that Robbie’s star will continue to shine thanks to her recent performance in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, and she will likely stick around the comic book movie world not only with Tank Girl but also Harley Quinn in Birds of Prey, which comes out next year.
