5. Green Lantern/Alan Scott

If Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher and Peacemaker can be in The Suicide Squad, then all bets are off on who else could appear in this movie. That is why Kevin Smith and his co-host Marc Bernardin on FatMan Beyond offered up the idea of Nathan Fillion playing Alan Scott/Green Lantern. Smith claimed to have a source that hints at the casting choice but was smart to not reveal too much.

For those who have a surface-level knowledge of Scott, then you’ll know that he is a Golden Age superhero. However, Scott was briefly a member of Checkmate serving the role of the White King.

Checkmate was created post-Infinite Crisis and served as a branch of Task Force X a.k.a. the Suicide Squad. Peacemaker, a rumored role for John Cena, was also a member of Checkmate and Amanda Waller held the role of the White Queen as well. Scott does not necessarily need to be a villain or anti-hero in The Suicide Squad, but he could serve as a moral center for Waller in the movie.

Fillion is not that old, and he could feasibly lead his own superhero project in the future like Booster Gold. However, it would be cool to see him play an older character as a sort of passing of the torch to a new generation of actors playing comic-book characters. Fillion could easily play that old-timey charm of Scott.

It would also be a nice, unconventional choice for Warner Bros. and DC to go with a Green Lantern that was not Hal Jordan. Fans may prefer John Stewart or Kyle Rayner, but it would be a nice nod to the Golden Age if Scott could get his cinematic debut.
