Avengers: Endgame is making more noise with its recent home release.

The Avengers: Endgame home release is on store shelves for over a month now, and the numbers are finally in for its first week of sales. And to no one’s surprise, the Endgame home release debuts at number one. We see the film claiming number one in DVD sales and Blu-ray sales. How could anything go against the Avengers, though? Sure, a few other titles appear on shelves the same time as the Endgame home release. Yet they are not titles really worth mentioning for they offer no real competition.

Avengers: Endgame is a box office juggernaut and is already a titan on movie shelves. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu took a near 70% dip in its second week on the home market. The latest Marvel release sells over 446k DVDs for a total spending of $10.3 million. Meanwhile, Marvel delivers over 1.79 million Blu-ray for a total spending of $40.3 million. Combine all of this and the Endgame home release sold over 2.23 million units, with total spending over $50.6 million.

Strangely, Avengers: Infinity War made slightly more in Blu-ray spending in its first week of release. Judging by the math, it seems the first film retailed at a higher price. That aside, Avengers: Endgame is already outpacing its predecessor by 6%. Imagine what this means down the road. Thanos’ final appearance may break into selling over 5 million units.

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Out of the entire Marvel Phase Three line-up, Endgame is the third-best debuting DVD and the second-best debuting Blu-ray. Total units joined, Endgame is the second-best first-week selling title from Phase Three. Believe it or not, Captain America: Civil War has the best début week on both DVD and Blu-ray. But do not worry Thanos fans, as the gap is only 13% in units sold. Forgive the slight off-path, but it comes as no shock to most Endgame has a better début in the charts than Avengers: Age of Ultron. This is probably the least popular Avengers title.

Already, this movie is having the effect of puling up numbers for Captain MarvelAvengers: Infinity War and even older MCU titles. The release of Spider-Man: Far From Home will probably have the same effect on the Endgame home release. Any notion of this movie dropping to number two in its second week seems preposterous. August’s numbers belong to Avengers: Endgame. Perhaps in September after the film has spent time on shelves and other releases like John Wick 3 show up, only then will it begin to slip. Still, it will hold the number two spot and so on. What does it really have to compete with?
