6. Green Lantern and Sinestro

To understand this beef, you must understand Sinestro. You can stop right here and put on the Green Lantern film, but I doubt you’ll finish it. So here we go. Sinestro wasn’t just a proud member of the Green Lantern Corps; he was considered the greatest among his peers.

In fact, he trained Hal Jordan, who was an unlikely, yet, all-time great Green Lantern himself. Sinestro mentored Hal, but he wasn’t his friend.

He hated Hal for getting in the way. There was a philosophical difference between Sinestro and the Green Lantern Corps. He thought fear and deadly force were ideal tactics to make the world a better place.

Sienstro’s home planet rose against him with the help of Hal Jordan. He was then booted from Corps into Qward, where he forged a yellow ring; giving birth to the Sinestro Corps.

One of the more epic battles beween the two saw Sinestro strip the Green Lanterns of their power. He’d go on to infect Hal with Parallax, a parasite that would eventually take Hal’s life.

Another sign of their hatred for another happened after Hal lost his Green Lantern power after being stripped of his ring (for killing a Guardian). Sinestro,  however, was chosen to wear green and needed Hal. He created a ring for Hal and Hal tried to beat him up, albeit unsuccessfully.

At one-point Sinestro had to threaten to kill Carol Ferris to get Hal to join him in a fight. Their beef continues in the comics to this day in entertaining fashion.
