Batman’s latest creative team has been announced
By Scott Brown
Over the course of this latest Batman Day, a new creative team was announced for the Batman title once Tom King exits.
During an event at New York, DC publisher Dan DiDio announced who the new creative team for the Batman solo series will be. Taking over with issue No. 86 will be James Tynion IV as the writer, while Tony S. Daniel will be returning for art duties. Danny Miki will be doing the inking for the series, and Tomeu Morey will be coloring it. Tynion IV will be taking over as writer on the series after Tom King finishes his “City of Bane” arc with issue No. 85.
This won’t be Tynion’s first time venturing into Gotham, though, as he’s written plenty of Bat-family stories. He’s written back-up stories during Scott Snyder’s run on the series and has worked with Snyder on Batman Eternal and Batman & Robin Eternal. He also had a nearly 50 issue-run on Detective Comics at the beginning of DC Rebirth, which was excellent. Currently, Tynion is writing Justice League, again along with Snyder, as well as Justice League Dark, which is one of the best monthly series being released by DC Comics.

This isn’t Daniel’s first foray into Gotham, either. He’s currently been one of the lead artists on “City of Bane” and has worked on multiple different Batman projects as both a writer and artist. He’s worked with writers such as Grant Morrison and Tom King within the world of Batman, and he was the first writer on Detective Comics when The New 52 began in 2011, where he was responsible for having The Joker cut his face off.
Nothing is really known about where Tynion and Daniel will be taking the series because, as one would imagine, details about the end of “City of Bane” are being kept under wraps. We’ll just have to find out when Batman No. 86 hits the stands.
