Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is teaming with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy to produce a new Star Wars film.
The Star Wars franchise will enter a new chapter following the release of The Rise of Skywalker, which will close out the Skywalker saga. So far, several films are already in development from various creatives. Now, it looks like another film is on the horizon is Lucasfilm is recruiting a familiar face for the project.
THR reports that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is going to develop a new Star Wars film as part of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy’s upcoming slate. Feige reportedly entered talks during a late-summer meeting. Of course, there are currently no specifics on the project. However, the trade also mentions that Feige has already floated the idea of a role in the film to a major actor.
Walt Disney Studios co-chairman Alan Horn expressed his excitement about the future of Lucasfilm to THR. He also believes Kevin Feige’s longtime Star Wars fandom makes him the perfect fit for the universe:
"“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”"

Interestingly, the trade also goes on to mention that this could be the beginning of a bigger role for Feige within Lucasfilm. Conversely, others believe this is merely a passion project for him.
While Kevin Feige grew up an avid comic book reader, he has long talked about his love of Star Wars and how he’s drawn inspiration from the franchise for his work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This fandom paired with his proven abilities as a storyteller make him a strong fit.
Still, there are a number of questions that remain, such as what the film’s story will be and when we can expect it to go into production. There’s also the matter of the major actor Feige has reportedly spoken with. It’ll likely be a while before we get any answers, but fans will undoubtedly be waiting intently to find out more.
