3. Zendaya

Admittedly, Zendaya’s name floats around the fancasting circles for a number of roles — and for good reason. If her time with the Spider-Man franchise ends in the future, despite the newly signed deal, it should be time for her to get her own starring, superhero vehicle. While she doesn’t have any awards yet, Zendaya has proven she’s a talented actress in her own right.

While it’s not always necessary to trace an actor’s resume to link it to a role, there is some significance as to why Zendaya would make a great Barbara Gordon. She’s shown she can strip down to play a drug addict in the critically acclaimed HBO series Europhia.

Zendaya got some major mainstream as Michelle in the Marvel Studios Spider-Man series, which in some ways was her first major role after Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover. Meanwhile, The Greatest Showman showed off her acrobatic skills.

With the potential Barbara Gordon story following her transition from Batgirl to Oracle, an actress who can pull off isolation and depression is necessary. If Zendaya’s proving anything, it’s she can pull off the aforementioned characteristics.

It also helps that the 23-year old actress is 5’10”, which aids in her ability to look intimidating in the Batgirl costume. Zendaya is a star in her own right, and we’ll see her as Chani in the upcoming Dune remake. Hopefully, the next news we here is her being cast as Barbara Gordon.
