Agents of SHIELD: Adrianne Palicki won’t return for the final season
By Erik Swann
Adrianne Palicki has revealed that she will not reprise her role of Bobbi Morse during the final season of Agents of SHIELD.
Next year, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will officially end its run, and it’s sure to be a season filled with twists and surprise returns. However, we now know for sure that at least one former cast member won’t be returning for the farewell season.
During New York Comic Con (via Comicbook.com), Adrianne Palicki confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse for SHIELD’s final season. The actress even revealed that no one from the show reached out to her about a potential return:
"“Y’all, they did not call me. They did not. I know, I was really bummed. I didn’t know it was the last season, either. So, but… I’m sorry."

Palicki’s Bobbi Morse was originally introduced during the show’s second season as a veteran SHIELD operative working undercover within HYDRA. While serving with Coulson’s team, she was also revealed to be working for “the real SHIELD,” an off-shoot agency that was formed after the original organization fell in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Bobbi was also joined by her fellow agent and ex-husband Lance Hunter, and both quickly became fan-favorites on the show. This popularity led to the two being written out during the third season so they could headline their own series, Marvel’s Most Wanted. Unfortunately, the show never made it to air, and both characters were not brought back to the parent show. Hunter did, however, return for one episode during the fifth season.
It’s surprising that the Agents of SHIELD producers didn’t ask Palicki back, especially given her popularity and importance to the series. But it’s possible the team’s new situation in the final season didn’t leave much room for Bobbi to pop in. Still, Palicki’s absence doesn’t mean the show couldn’t find another way to honor her character. Agents of SHIELD returns for its final season on ABC in 2020.
