Joker is set to maintain its number one spot at the box office this weekend.

The estimates are out and it looks like the number one box office spot for this weekend will go to Joker. Predictions show Joker has no competition. How good do things look over the second weekend for the number one film in America now?

In its opening weekend, Joker raked in $96 million, taking the number one spot. Every other film did not even have a pinky to grasp the box office. For example, the number two film, Abominable earned only $11 million. Things do not look as bleak this weekend for the competition, though. Nonetheless, the competition isn’t looking too strong.

One can already say Will Smith’s new film, Gemini Man, is turning out to be a flop. Next, is The Addams Family movie for the family. Both films brought in over $1 million from Thursday night previews. Yet Joker had an $8 million night. Therefore, we can already see clearly that Todd Phillips’ movie is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Estimates have Joker pulling $45 million this weekend. This means the film is taking a 53% drop for its second weekend. Honestly, this is not too bad and about average. Most of the time, expectations are that a film will have at least a 50% drop. If your film can hover within the high 40% to low 50% range, then you are relatively fine. In fact, the biggest second-weekend drop for a comic book movie is this year’s Dark Phoenix. The last Fox installment of the X-Men franchise saw a 71.5% drop.

There are no estimates at this time for the film’s second weekend overseas. Joker took in over $152 million. We can already assume a roughly 50% drop as well, making it good for within the $70 million range. Unfortunately, the film does not enter the $200 million range domestically. But into the following week, it will. However, Joker will easily be over the $400 million mark worldwide!. This little $55 million film, which can almost be considered something of an indie film, is the juggernaut at the box office.
