Report: Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi’ will feature several of the hero’s enemies

A new report suggests that the Mandarin won’t be the sole villain in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will finally introduce the true Mandarin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and pit the titular hero against him. But it seems he won’t be the only one to challenge the Master of Kung-Fu in his big-screen debut.
New casting information reported by MCU Cosmic hints that Marvel Studios is in the process of casting for several villains in Shang-Chi. Three of these characters originated from the original Master of Kung comics. The fourth, however, appears to be an original creation, as he has no comic book counterpart.
The reported villains are Moving Shadow, Razor Fist, Ghostmaker and Steel Claw, who is the unknown. An assassin and martial artist, Moving Shadow is Shang-Chi’s half brother, who was trained by their father, Fu Manchu, to eliminate his brother.

Razor Fist is an alias that has belonged to three characters in the comics. Each iteration of the villain has been a skilled assassin with steel blades for hands, and all have come into conflict with Shang-Chi at some point in time. Meanwhile, Ghost Maker, a product of martial arts training from his K.G.B.-aligned father, was exposed to raindrops with “death dust” after an encounter with Shang-Chi. The assassin died of his injuries but was eventually resurrected by villainous organizations on several occasions to take on heroes like Daredevil and Elektra.
This surplus of enemies may seem surprising for a first film, but it lines up with another rumor currently circulating about the project. MCU Cosmic also mentions that the film may feature a “Bloodsport-style underground fight tournament.” This would make it plausible for the hero to cross paths with an array of enemies. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings opens in theaters on February 12, 2021.
