The Flash: A speedster makes a sacrifice for the Speed Force
Hunter Zolomon, once known as Zoom, in the midst of a conflict between the two Flashes and the Black Flash, makes an unexpected decision involving the Speed Force.
Weeks back, Hunter Zolomon (a.k.a Zoom), now masquerading as the one and only true Flash, has stolen the Still Force from its conduit, Steadfast. Zoom revealed to Barry Allen/The Flash what his pursuit of the other extra-dimensional energy sources of Strength, Sage and Speed Forces has been about. Zoom wants to combine these forces to generate a completely new force called the Forever Force. Zoom is after the ability to view all of time and space.
Ever since “Flash War,” Zoom has been out of the picture, after he manipulated Wally West to destroy the Speed Force, releasing the other Forces from the barrier. Black Flash has been targeting other Force–users in an attempt to maintain its existence, for the Speed Force has been eroded, affecting the Speedsters’ own personification of death and eating away at their source of superhuman speed. CBR.com managed to unveil certain events that took place, leading Zoom to make the ultimate sacrifice in the most recent issue of The Flash comic.

In The Flash No. 81 by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Scott Kolius, Zoom, who absorbed enough of the Speed Force to become the self-proclaimed “greatest Flash in the multiverse,” engaged with the Black Flash, utilizing the other energy forces of Strength, Still and Sage and risking the entire Speed Force being extinguished. Barry reached out to Zolomon and told him Eobard Thawne/The Reverse Flash coerced past events that led Zolomon to become Zoom in the first place.

Realizing this, and having acknowledged his efforts in pushing the Flashes to see his vision for the world led to no suitable end, Zoom reached into the dimensional barrier and used all of the four forces at his disposal to fix the Speed Force, sacrificing himself in the process and ridding every Speedster of the Black Flash, but with disastrous consequences.
