HBO Max will offer up DC’s entire library of live-action films from the last several decades.

HBO Max has long been reported to feature its fair share of DC Comics-related content that will stand alongside the DC Universe streaming service. And a new announcement now reaffirms those plans.

During a lengthy presentation for HBO Max, it was announced that the streaming platform will feature DC’s entire library of live-action films. Not only that, but this list spans the last four decades of DC movies. The news was also shared online via the service’s official Twitter page:

More from Movies

DC has an expansive roster of motion pictures, which began in earnest with the Christopher Reeve-led Superman films that began in the ’70s. Tim Burton’s Batman would then kick off a series of films centered on the Dark Knight, which would run from the late ’80s to the late ’90s. It can also be assumed that the service will have Christopher Nolan’s critically acclaimed Dark Knight Trilogy in the fold.

Classic movies will be a huge part of the service’s catalog, but newer films will also be added, including those from the DC Extended Universe franchise like Man of Steel, Wonder Woman and Justice League. Even Todd Phillips’ Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, will join the platform when it launches in 2020.

It also wouldn’t be surprising if HBO Max offers films like Steel, Catwoman and the Swamp Thing films of the ’80s, since they are DC properties. This, of course, also goes for Zack Snyder’s Watchmen and DC Imprint films like V for Vendetta and The Losers.

With the surplus of Superman and Batman flicks, some tend to forget that DC’s film library contains a diverse collection of movies. HBO Max is wise to see the value in them, and this should pay off for the young streaming service in the long run.
