15. We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy

Movie: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

No one would have thought that five unknown characters would become the stars they are now. Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot are a random group of characters. They were thrown together and ended up creating an iconic movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy may be the most fun comic book movie in the MCU. The jokes, fight scenes, and music are fantastic. While that’s enough to keep people intrigued, there was a great story and lesson about finding friends and family in weird places as well. Years later and it’s still looked at as people’s favorite projects.

There was a moment in the end where the team put their hands together to control the Power Stone. This was their coming out party. The dance off was funny, but they saved the planet together after that. Had this not happened, Ronan may have defeated Thanos. Thanos and the Black Order may be mighty, but they can’t go up against the force of an Infinity Stone. Especially with a Kree army backing them.

More importantly, this kept the Guardians of the Galaxy together. We’ve seen them save the entire galaxy in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. They also had an impact in the final fight scene in Avengers: Endgame. A personal favorite is how they helped get Nebula become a hero and an underrated character.
