7. Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz)

The appointment of Elizabeth Banks as executive producer signals that diversity is something that may be the focus for DC Super Hero High. Banks has noted that supporting women is one of her goals for Charlie’s Angels.

There’s no better character in the DC Universe to promote diversity than Jessica Cruz. Greg Berlanti is working on a Green Lantern project at HBO Max. It’s not known how deep into Green Lantern lore Berlanti will go in the series, but the Green Lantern show and DC Super Hero High probably won’t exist in the same universe or overlap in any way.

Jessica Cruz’s heritage as a Mexican-American and Honduran-American creates a lot of storylines to work with. One storyline to explore could be the theme of identity and grappling with it while also being shy and unconfident in oneself.

Combine that with her struggle of controlling the power of her Green Lantern ring, and a big character arc is already set up for the character, especially in a high school environment where drama is guaranteed.

Simon Baz can also be introduced in the series as well, giving Banks a huge opportunity to give two well-beloved characters the live-action spotlight.
