Black Lightning season 3: What we know about the characters
By Mark Lynch
Anissa/Black Bird
Anissa may have had the biggest jump this season. She’s always been a freedom fighter. When she got her powers, she stepped it up even more. And this season, Anissa has taken things to another level. Jefferson used to call her Harriet Tubman, and that name is now truer than he could have known. Anissa (as Black Bird) has been getting prisoners of the A.S.A. out of Freeland. The troubling part is that she’s become more aggressive and is drawing attention to herself. Doing things like throwing a tank at a helicopter will do that. All of this, and she’s having issues dealing with her father. Emotions are also running high now that Grace is back in her life.
There’s been a lot of focus on Anissa this season. This could mean that something special or tragic is about to happen. In the previous season, Jennifer was the main focus. Her story ended with both tragedy (Khalil dying) and her overcoming her anger (not killing Tobias). Anissa’s anger could lead her to do something she may regret like accidentally killing Grace, attacking her father or Jennifer, or who knows what else. Before the midseason break, something big is going to happen, and her character is going to have a drastic change.
