Marvel and Disney Plus’ Loki series has reportedly cast Sophia Di Martino in an undisclosed role.
Marvel Studios’ TV projects for Disney Plus are steadily moving into production, with two — The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision — already shooting. Loki, which will feature the returning Tom Hiddleston, is still in pre-production. And now another actor has been cast alongside Hiddleston.
According to Variety, Sophia Di Martino is in talks to join the cast of Loki. Details on her role are currently being kept under wraps. Marvel Studios didn’t provide any comment on the casting.

Di Martino is the show’s first reported cast member after Hiddleston. Both will star in the limited series, which is being written by Rick & Morty’s Michael Waldron who wrote the pilot and will serve as showrunner and producer. Kate Herron, of Netflix’s Daybreak, is set to direct the series. Cameras will start rolling on the production in 2020.
Di Martino has a background in film, television and theatre, with the actress having starred in mostly British productions to date. Her credits include TV shows like Flowers and Mount Pleasant, as well as her feature film debut, The Darkest Universe. She most recently appeared in Danny Boyle’s Beatles-inspired film, Yesterday.
Marvel is holding plot details close to the vest, though the show will reportedly center on the God of Mischief from Avengers: Endgame jumping through time. Producer Kevin Feige has also confirmed that it will have ties to the Doctor Strange sequel. Given all of this, it’s hard to say who Di Martino will play. Her role could range from a historical figure to an original character for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This casting is sure to be the first in a wave of other additions, and Marvel is likely to tap some big names. Loki is slated to stream on Disney Plus in early 2021.
