6. J’onn J’onzz

Supergirl has had a mentor in J’onn J’onzz since the time she decided to show off her Kryptonian skills; however, over the past few seasons, J’onn has slowly been phased out of Supergirl. Before becoming a private investigator, J’onn was the leader of the covert government operation, the DEO. He has since stepped down as DEO director and Kara’s sister Alex took over.

The Martian Manhunter also had a bit of an identity crisis trying to find his way after his father sacrificed himself to save the world. Well, J’onn can do the same thanks to his phenomenal abilities, sacrificing himself at some point in the Arrowverse crossover.

It’s understandable why they’ve held him back, after all this isn’t the Martian Manhunter show; although that wouldn’t be a bad idea — I digress. With Crisis on Infinite Earths on the horizon, he could step up in a major way. He could go all out and take on The Anti-Monitor to save the world and his death could breathe new life into Supergirl.

With Superman getting his own series and Supergirl no longer needing him; maybe it’s time for Martian Manhunter to live forever in the afterlife with the rest of his Green Martian family.
