Kevin Hart is hoping to reteam with Dwayne Johnson for DC’s standalone Black Adam film.

Dwayne Johnson’s long-awaited Black Adam solo film is finally set to hit theaters in 2021, with production will likely to commence soon. Aside from Johnson playing the lead role, there haven’t been any casting announcements. But one notable, Hollywood star is already making his interest in the project known.

While speaking to ET Canada with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart revealed his intent to join Black Adam in some capacity. And according to Hart, the two co-stars and friends have already talked about the possibility:

"“We’ve already discussed it. We talked about it earlier, so we’re finding that out. No matter what, he’s not going to do it and not put me in it. How selfish would that be?”"

Johnson also seemed to be exciting by the idea, saying that “we’ve got to find the part for Kevin in ‘Black Adam’ within the DC Universe.” The actor’s comments indicate that he doesn’t want Hart to simply have a walk-on cameo as a random individual. Instead, he would like to see him play an actual character from DC Comics lore.

While specific plot details have yet to be revealed, it seems the movie could feature its fair share of DC heroes, as the Justice Society of America is being integrated into Black Adam’s origins. This falls in line with early rumors that pegged characters like Stargirl and Hawkman as having roles in the film.

Hart definitely wouldn’t be the first comedic actor to step into the realm of superhero movies. Actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani is slated to appear in Marvel’s The Eternals, and Ryan Reynold’s role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool goes without saying. But in Hart’s case, there are no DC characters that come to mind immediately.

Despite this, having someone with Hart’s level of stardom would be a significant gain for the DC Extended Universe. And of course, he and Johnson have already proven to be an effective (and lucrative) acting pair. Black Adam is will arrive on December 22, 2021.
