5. The Darkseid War

Darkseid has returned to Earth, but not for the reason you might think. No, he’s not looking to obtain revenge on his enemies in the Justice League, but for a final battle with the Anti-Monitor.

An event in every sense of the word, “The Darkseid War” is bombastic as they come. It’s the culmination of Geoff Johns run on Justice League since The New 52 began and is arguably one of the best things to occur during that period. It’s a story that brings together so much history from the DC universe, while also adding in brand new layers of mythology in ways that don’t feel forced, but very organic and even shocking that they didn’t exist before.

And really, for a story with as many twists and starts & stops as this story has, it shouldn’t be good. Because of the fantastic writing by Geoff Johns and the stunning art by Jason Fabok and Francis Manapul, “The Darkseid War” works on every conceivable level. Plus, it gives us another Wonder Woman-centric event in a surprising way as well as one of the best single issues of the decade in “Will You Be My God?” by Tom King and Doc Shaner.
