Crisis on Infinite Earths: Every DC Comics event ranked worst to best
By Scott Brown
4. The Sinestro Corps War
The color of Will is green, but the universe will come to fear the color yellow and the War of Light will begin.
While primarily a Green Lantern story, and the second act of a trilogy of events during Geoff Johns’ run on Green Lantern, “The Sinestro Corps War” irrevocably changes the fabric of the DC universe. No longer is the cosmic portion of DC completely separate from Earth, but because of this event, they have become interconnected in a way that before had been very rare. Any character has the potential to become a member of a Lantern Corps now, thus paving the way for a larger universe.
Other than what this story does for readers in the real world, it’s simply an exhilarating read. It’s grandiose in scale as it incorporates aspects of the entire cosmos into its narrative, while also bringing back characters and villains in surprising ways. The story pushes Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps to their breaking point in such a brutal fashion, but still contains an emotional through line. Seriously, the scene where the people in Coast City light the entire city green is the best.
