Adam Driver currently has no intention of returning to a galaxy far, far away after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Spoilers lie ahead.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker not only closed out the Skywalker Saga, but it also concluded the stories of the Sequel Trilogy’s characters. This couldn’t be truer for Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) who met his fate at the end of the film. Although there are ways in which Ben can be revived, Driver isn’t anxious to return.

In an interview with French magazine Le Matin (via AdamDriverFiles), Driver confirmed he is moving on from Star Wars. The Academy Award-nominated actor is grateful to have been a part of the series but is now ready to try other things:

"“This is not at all on the agenda. This experience will forever remain one of the highlights of my career, but I aspire to other adventures.”"

Kylo Ren’s character arc in The Rise of Skywalker was one of redemption, as the Supreme Leader of the First Order turned from the Dark Side and reclaimed his identity as Ben Solo. He then proceeded to team up with Rey to destroy the Emporer once and for all. After Rey died defeating Palpatine, Ben revived her by transferring his life force to her, killing himself in the process.

Solo may no longer be in the land of the living but, as Star Wars fans know, death isn’t the end for Force-users. Ben could easily return as a Force ghost or in flashbacks. The character could even return through animated projects.

Nevertheless, Driver doesn’t seem interested in doing anything else with the franchise, which is understandable since he’s just completed three films in five years. And with his character already steeped in the pop culture lexicon, he may be seeking to create some distance between himself and the role. Seeing him go is bittersweet, but his performance will no doubt be viewed as one of this trilogy’s highlights.
