Black Panther: 10 fun facts that will blow your mind
4. White Wolf
If you stayed around for the post-credit scenes of Black Panther, you might have seen the clip that revealed a recovering Bucky Barnes meeting with Shuri, who refers to him as the White Wolf. For anyone who hasn’t watched the third Captain America flick, a mid-credit scene shows T’Challa offering the Barnes (Winter Soldier) sanctuary in Wakanda, as he helps the former assassin overcome his brainwashing at the hands of HYRDA. The scene with Shuri also sets up the Winter Soldier’s return in Avengers: Infinity War.
In Black Panther, Shuri makes an offhand comment about having “another broken white boy for us to fix.” While this appears as a regular line of dialogue to the average viewer based on Everett Ross’s injury, it’s not all that odd if you have seen Civil War.
If you’re a Black Panther comic book fan, you’ll know that the character of the White Wolf has nothing to do with Bucky. It’s the moniker of Hunter, T’Challa and Shuri’s adoptive brother. In the comics, Hunter was the adoptive son of T’Chaka and his first wife, N’Yami, whom we mentioned earlier as the biological mother of T’Challa. The OG White Wolf becomes a thief, which puts a strain on his relationship with his brother, while poor Shuri is forced to play Switzerland between them. She might love her brothers equally, but she hates seeing them fight.
