Bringing Black Lightning to the Arrowverse is for the character and his show.

The Arrowverse crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths, rocked. People waited patiently during the long break and weren’t disappointed. They were given some incredible moments like Ezra Miller’s DCEU Flash meeting Grant Gustin’s Flash, along with the beginning of the Justice League. The moment where the table was revealed was unforgettable. There was a somber moment as well. We said goodbye to Oliver Queen as he died saving — and rebooting — the multiverse. Thankfully, Green Arrow had a chance to say farewell to his friends. Throughout all the emotional moments, something major came out of this: the Arrowverse has merged.

Supergirl and Black Lightning are now part of the newly formed Earth-Prime (comic book fans probably aren’t happy with that name). After being away from it for so long, this was a perfect way to bring them in. If we’re being honest, no one should be surprised. Keeping them separate was a good idea for a little while. Eventually, people were going to want more. The crossovers prove that fans love seeing their heroes team up. Plus, this is a staple in comic books. Supergirl has technically been a part of the Arrowverse, as she’s crossed over with the other series plenty of times. The character just lived on a different Earth. However, this is major for Black Lightning, the character and the show.

How does this help Black Lightning?

Black Lightning has gotten better as the show has progressed. The drama, action, and acting have all gotten better. This much improvement in a short amount of time only proved this was a show bound for glory. Getting renewed for a fourth season shows The CW has faith in its popularity. Adding it to the Arrowverse shows there are also plans for Black Lightning going forward. This could even mean a bigger budget for the show.

More from Arrowverse

Going forward, we can expect to see more Arrowverse heroes. Characters like Batwoman, Supergirl, or White Canary may step in to help Freeland in its time of need. These particular heroes could definitely show up because Black Lightning values strong women. All of them would be welcomed help when the Markovians make their big push into Freeland. Black Lightning, Thunder, and Lightning are tough, but a little help from friends never hurt anyone.

With these cameos come new viewers. People who wouldn’t normally watch Black Lightning will tune in to see their favorites. There’s also the weird combinations that are possible. Can you imagine if Constantine and Black Lightning teamed up? There’s no way that wouldn’t be hilarious. And what about Batwoman and Blackbird working together to defeat a mutual enemy? Both are strong, hard-nosed characters with their own way of doing things, which would make for an interesting dynamic. And of course, it would also be cool to see two superhero members of the LGBTQ community fighting alongside each other. There are multiple combinations that could be used and, chances are, there are probably a few going through your head right now.
