There are some rumored plot points that could explain Carnage and Shriek’s roles in the Venom sequel. Possible spoilers ahead.

Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) is gradually expanding, with the release of the first Morbius trailer and the sequel to Venom currently progressing with principal photography in Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England, UK. Now, according to HN Entertainment, there seem to be more details cropping up about Carnage and Shriek.

More story details have possibly leaked about how the two villains meet. It turns out Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), the civilian alter-ego of Carnage has been sentenced to death by the state of California for a series of murders he committed until Francis Louise Barrison aka Shriek (Naomie Harris) breaks the convict and soon to be the asexual son/enemy of Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) out of Ravencroft prison.

From the sounds of this apparent scoop, that is pure speculation at this point. Kasady does not have the Carnage symbiote at this point, which is a slight departure from the comics. It has been hinted in past reports that the sequel will explore Kasady’s past, and HN did mention that Brock/Venom is running an investigation into the orphanage Kasady was raised in and the connection between12 victims that perished during a fire. It will be interesting to find out what Shriek’s motivation for breaking out Kasady in the first place is and how the serial killer will gain the symbiote.

Venom 2 is being directed by Andy Serkis with Kelly Marcel lending her writing contributions to the screenplay. Other than Hardy and Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Reid Scott are reprising their roles as Anne Weying and Dan Lewis, respectively. The film will be released by Sony Pictures October 2, 2020.
