5. Wildcat

Hardcore DC Comics fans know all about Wildcat, the former boxer and trainer who moonlighted as a vigilante. He trained a few heroes in the comics, including Black Canary. Dinah did have some fighting skills in Bird of Prey. Maybe it was Ted who taught her how to fight. Now, imagine taking Ted Grant’s story and adapting it into a live-action story.

In the comics, Ted Grant was trained in the art of boxing by his father, who couldn’t make enough money to support his son. Ted had to forgo college and work and fought his way up the boxing ranks. Unlike most boxers, Ted had a special skill that allowed him to predict his opponent’s movements.

Imagine following his journey to fame. He’s approached by a crime boss, who asks him to throw a fight against a client, and Ted’s friend, Muldoon. He declines, and his own manager laces his gloves in poison that kills his friend during the fight.

Ted, knowing what his manager had done, works alongside a police officer he trusts; they team up to take down the men responsible for his friend’s death. It’s a tale of a man fighting to prove his innocence while taking down a major crime organization in the process. HBO Max is the perfect place for this miniseries.
