Carl Lumbly, who appeared on Supergirl, is now joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The cast for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier continues to grow. Veteran actor Carl Lumbly, who once voiced the role of Martian Manhunter in the DC Animated Universe and starred as the character’s father on The CW’s Supergirl, is reported to be appearing on the show. As per Deadline, Lumbly’s role has not been revealed as of yet, but rumour has it he could be playing Isiah Bradley, AKA the “Black Captain America.” If the rumours are true, then the show will feature multiple super-soldiers. Wyatt Russell has already been cast as John Walker/U.S. Agent, a variation of Captain America.

Isiah Bradley had a huge impact on Marvel fans of colour, and his story has disturbing undertones in the comics, especially the concept of experimentation on African-American soldiers. Lumbly has the keen ability to pull off humour and emotion and, irrespective of the character he is set to play, he will be a heavyweight addition to the cast.

The show features Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. The characters are set to team up with Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) and face off against one of the MCU’s most underrated villains, Daniel Brühl’s Zemo.

Lumbly joins previously announced cast members, Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa and Noah Mills. Their roles are being kept under wraps.

Details on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier remain scarce, though it appears from the trailer that the events take place after Avengers: Endgame, with Captain America having bequeathed his shield and the original Avengers disbanded.
