Marvel has produced some great Black Panther stories over the last 20 years, and we’ve listed five that are worth checking out.

Black Panther is the first black mainstream comic book hero. He made his appearance in 1966 in an issue of Fantastic Four, but this was no ordinary appearance. T’Challa showed Marvel’s First Family that he meant business. They had no idea that Wakanda and the Black Panther had the skill and technology that they did. Since then, Black Panther has maintained his balance of being wise, intelligent, and physically formidable. To underestimate him could easily mean your death. Just ask the Skrulls (that will come up later).

Over the years, Black Panther has gone through a lot. He’s given up his powers to prove his worth, given up giant mound of vibranium to make Wakanda stronger, and solved the Galactus problem (check out Ultimates for that story). And those are only a few of his adventures. There have been some incredible creators charged with making Black Panther a character people love to see. Without that popularity, it’s doubtful Marvel Studios would have given him a shot at his own movie. Thankfully, everyone in charge did a fantastic job making him an amazing character.

With this being Black History Month, it seemed appropriate to discuss some of Black Panther’s best stories; tales that show different parts of Black Panther. Let’s begin the article with a story that’s fairly new, but will likely become a classic.
