Black Widow: What the final trailer reveals about Taskmaster
The final Black Widow trailer has released and has revealed some small details about the movie’s villain.
The long anticipated Black Widow solo movie, headlined by Scarlett Johansson as the title character, will be hitting theaters very soon. The final trailer teases the full story of Natasha Romanoff as it follows-up on the interactions between her family.
While fans are excited to see the action scenes shared between Natasha and her sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), the final trailer also gives an interesting look at the movie’s villain, Taskmaster.
Taskmaster is considered to be one of Marvel’s great villains and has featured in a lot of great stories throughout his comic book history. He is mainly known for his superpower: The ability to mimic the physical movements of anyone he watches. While this is a debatable super-power, that ability has been shown in the final Black Widow trailer. Check it out below:
The trailer shows Taskmaster watching footage of Natasha from her iconic scene in Iron Man 2. He is shown throwing a shield which is something he most likely has learned from watching Captain America. There is also a sequence where Taskmaster sharpens his claws which is a move similar to Black Panther.
Has Taskmaster fought T’Challa in the past, or perhaps he has fought T’Chaka in the past? Either way, it is clear that Taskmaster has watched all of The Avengers and their battles.
One of the things that is clear in our world is that almost everything is recorded, and as the MCU is loosely based on that world, it’s not that surprising that almost everything is recorded in it too. After all, the whole crux of Captain America: Civil War started in Lagos where a incident made international headlines.
It isn’t outside of the realm of possibility that Taskmaster would have access to every bit of footage of The Avengers. Black Widow is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, and an incident where The Avengers are fighting each other at the airport is surely to have been recorded by someone.

It is very easy to see that Taskmaster may have seen that footage and copied the physical abilities of Black Panther and Spider-Man, the bow and arrow skills of Hawkeye and the hand-to-hand skills of Winter Soldier and Captain America. However, what about his sword?
There are not many Avengers characters that wield a Katana, but there is a certain “Merc with a Mouth” that does. Is Marvel perhaps teasing Deadpool in the MCU?
There is no real indication as to what will become of the Fox Marvel characters mostly regarding their standing in the MCU. Many fans want characters like Deadpool and Psylocke to stay intact.
Maybe Taskmaster has skills of his own merit, but what is clear is that he has done his homework on The Avengers. He is head of the Red Room which is where Natasha and her sister got their training to become Black Widow so fans will definitely learn more about Natasha and her past.
However, fans will have to wait and see Black Widow in order for Taskmaster’s full story to be revealed.
Black Widow is set to hit theaters on May 1. What did you think about the final Black Widow trailer? What else are you hoping to learn about Taskmaster? Let us know in the comments below!
