Riverdale: 5 WTF moments from season 4, episode 16 ‘The Locked Room’
1. Betty Reveals The Truth Behind Donna’s Nefarious Scheme
Betty and Jughead’s exceptional detective work was enough to ensure that an investigation was opened into the dark history of Stonewall Prep, and as a result, Bret and Joan found themselves neck deep in it. Though the latter could use her diplomatic immunity to escape any charges, Bret was forced (after a Jones beatdown) to admit to attempted murder and release the student sextapes he was keeping.
The master conspirator Donna, however, couldn’t be directly tied to the case, so she was intending to leave with the Baxter Brothers contract that she had apparently won. And she would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids.

Betty showed up in her dorm room and revealed that Donna’s grandmother was one of DuPont’s victims – a discovery she made with the help of Veronica’s sister Hermosa. And with that, it all fell into place: Donna had joined Stonewall and worked her way up in order to get the Baxter Brothers contract away from DuPont (who had stolen her grandmother’s character) at all costs.
Being the crafty detective that she is, Betty allowed Donna to leave freely if she handed over the Baxter Brothers contract to someone more deserving: Jughead Jones.
Case. Closed.
