DCEU: The Flash movie may be about to experience more delays
The Flash was supposed to begin pre-production in April, but that might not be the case now.
Much like Marvel’s New Mutants, the production of Warner Bros.’ The Flash has hit a few speed bumps over the past couple of years. And unfortunately, the Ezra Miller-fronted film has just hit another one.
Pre-production was supposed to begin next month, but that may no longer be the case. Stunt Coordinator Eunice Huthart (Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker) recently spoke to Screen Rant, and mentioned being uncertain about the Scarlet Speedster’s big-screen interpretation proceeding due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. She said:
"“The project I was due to start is The Flash. I was supposed to start at about the end of April, beginning of May. I’m not sure what’s happening now with that.”"
Wonder Woman 1984 is the only film set to come out later on during the year (delayed from June 5 to August 14) for the DC Extended Universe as Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) was already released last month. It was subsequently released on Digital on March 24.
James Gunn’s soft reboot The Suicide Squad, scheduled for August 6, 2021, already wrapped principal photography late February whereas production in London for The Batman has recently been shut down indefinitely.

As for The Flash, while the release date is scheduled for July 1, 2022, production of the movie is not expected until 2021. Ever since the recent creative team – including Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson – replaced Spider-Man: Homecoming co-writers and filmmaking duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Andy Muschietti stated his take on The Flash will draw some elements from 2011’s Flashpoint storyline.
Since the film was about to hit pre-production, it is assumed that Hodson and Muschietti have settled on the right story, but right now the film’s production schedule understandably seems uncertain.
