4. Justice League

Consistently negative film responses undermined the DCEU’s success and Suicide Squad was seemingly the nail in the coffin, but Wonder Woman raised it from the dead – needless to say, fans were excited to see Justice League. The team-up film was the fourth installment of DC’s Extended Universe with director Zack Snyder returning and it also introduced Ezra Miller’s Flash, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

After the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman found renewed hope. With an otherworldly threat on the horizon, the Dark Knight teamed with Wonder Woman as they recruited other heroes in their crusade. Controversy surrounded the film after Joss Whedon replaced Zack Snyder, with the Avengers director naturally making changes to Justice League to give it his touch with rewrites and reshoots.

Consequently, the Release the Snyder Cut movement began after the conflicting styles was just one of the many reasons why the film was received rather poorly. Even Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot joined the Twitter movement, but don’t expect it to see it anytime soon or ever.

In spite of the issues surrounding Justice League, the film was historic in that it was the first time we got to see the iconic DC band of heroes team-up in live-action.
