2. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

There is an argument to be made that DC’s animated universe of original films is better than the DCEU. After all, it has given us some amazing films and in 2019 Wonder Woman: Bloodlines continued to impress with a voice cast led by Rosario Dawson (Wonder Woman), with the likes of Marie Avgeropoulos as Vanessa and Jeffrey Donovan as Steve Trevor.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is part-origin story for the Princess of Themyscira. Like most origins, Diana saves the fighter pilot, Steve Trevor – this time from a Parademon. After crash-landing on Paradise Island, Trevor became a prisoner of the Amazons, until Diana rescued him again. As always, she opted to stay in the realm of men to protect the world from evil. In doing so, the people dubbed the hero, Wonder Woman.

Unlike the other films on the list, Bloodlines sees Diana integrated into a family. However, all is not well, though, as it’s hard for Diana to tell the impact her arrival had on a young girl, Vanessa — whom she lived with. As Diana continued to grow into a hero, Vanessa became withdrawn; feeling neglected by her mother’s admiration of Diana and she grew jealous over the relationship shared between her mother and Diana.

Seeing an opportunity Villainy Inc. capitalized off the emotions of Vanessa, turning her into a super-powered villain Wonder Woman must stop. Meanwhile, they plot to take over Paradise Island. This is one of the better DC animated films to feature Wonder Woman — a must watch.
