Rumor: The Flash movie may go ahead without Ezra Miller
Could the upcoming DCEU film The Flash be about to get a change of face?
The recent incident involving Fantastic Beasts actor, Ezra Miller, sparked controversy as video footage revealed that the 27-year-old appeared to choke a woman in a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland on April 5, as reported by Variety.
Naturally, fans have been wondering whether or not this will impact his role in the upcoming DCEU film The Flash. Miller, of course, portrays the Scarlet Speedster in the DC Extended Universe and has thus far appeared in Justice League after making cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.
There has been no official statement from Warner Bros. in regards to the incident, but according to one rumor, the studio’s willingness to produce the film – that could very well alter the DCEU as we know it – could see them moving ahead even if he isn’t part of it. Fandom Wire suggests Warner Bros. are prepared to move forward with or without Miller on-board.

While that ambiguous statement does suggest that it’s still up in the air as to whether Miller will be reprising his role as Barry Allen/The Flash, Kiersey Clemons is still expected to portray Iris West. Whether Billy Crudup is still on for reprising his role of Dr Henry Allen – the father of the Scarlet Speedster – from Justice League is uncertain as there were differing reports back in 2017.
Fandom Wire also spoke of the possibility of both the Reverse Flash and Mirror Master being the primary antagonists for the standalone Flash motion picture, and suggested that Jessica Chastain is the studio’s choice to play a gender-swapped version of Sam Scudder a.k.a. Mirror Master.
If that is the case, then it would not be the first time one of The Flash’s greatest foes has been gender-swapped, as a female version of the Evan McCulloch incarnation of Mirror Master recently appeared during the sixth season of The CW’s TV adaptation of The Flash.
After years of production delays, the film adaptation of The Flash was finally about to enter pre-production, but it may now experience more delays due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Andy Muschietti is in the director’s chair while Barbara Muschietti will produce for a July 1, 2022 release.
