A new rumor suggests that an unknown project is in the early stages of development at Marvel Studios featuring the group Secret Warriors.

It sounds as if another SHIELD team may be upon us (in some form or another) as Geeks WorldWide has reported that Secret Warriors is currently in early development at Marvel Studios and in search of a writer.

It is not certain at this time whether Secret Warriors will be a television series to be streamed on Disney Plus or a feature film to receive a theatrical release. Kevin Feige, of course, is set to produce.

First some background: There exists only two runs of the comic book series. Secret Warriors, the 2009 series ran for 28 issues and ended in 2011 with co-writers Brian Michael Bendis and Jonathan Hickman and art by Stefano Caselli. The original team led by Nick Fury was Team White. These individual members of enhanced operatives included Daisy “Quake” Johnson, Hellfire and Yo-Yo Rodriguez just to name a few, but later included others aside from the original roster.

The second run of Secret Warriors only ran for 12 issues and was scripted by Matthew Rosenberg with art by Javier Garron. It was published in 2017. This roster headed by Quake consisted of Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Moon Girl (Lunella Lafayette), Devil Dinosaur, Inferno (Dante Pertuz), Karnak and the younger sister of X-Men member Colossus, Illyana Rasputin aka Magik.

Secret Warriors has since been adapted into other Marvel media especially for the small screen such as Agents of SHIELD. The seventeenth episode of the show’s third season was titled “The Team” and featured Quake, Yo-Yo, Lincoln Campbell and Joey Gutierrez. Furthermore, the group were then adapted into an animated TV-movie, as Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors, which featured Ms. Marvel, Inferno, America Chavez and others for Disney Channel and Disney XD.

This report comes at the same time that a potential new Ghost Rider project is rumored to be in development at Marvel Studios as well.
