X-Men: The 20 best characters of the last decade
By Mark Lynch
2. Cyclops/Wolverine
Normally, these guys would be split into two separate categories. Not this time. The past 10 years has seen Cyclops and Wolverine essentially become the same person. The split after Schism made both of them leaders of the X-Men; each having a different purpose. Wolverine ran a school (a move he was surprisingly fit for) to give mutants a home where they didn’t have to be soldiers, Cyclops and his crew stayed on Utopia where they could continue saving and protecting mutants. This split had a major effect on the mutant community – especially during and after Avengers Vs. X-Men. Another thing they had in common, they both died and came back around the same time.
Logan and Scott returned when there were no more X-Men. When all the chips were down, the two of them put the team back together (with a little nudge from Emma Frost). It made sense. Cyclops and Wolverine are the heart and soul of the X-Men. Both of them have died for the cause and would do it again in a heartbeat.
It’s cool to see Wolverine and Cyclops take on lesser roles after House of X and Powers of X. They’ve appeared to enjoy the down time they’ve had since Krakoa. They’ve made up, matured, and are brothers again.
