In a huge shock, it has been revealed that the Snyder Cut of Justice League will make its debut in 2021 on HBO Max.

Ever since Justice League debuted in theaters back in 2017, fans of Zack Snyder have wondered if they’d ever see the director’s original vision for the film.

The disappointing response to the theatrical version of the DCEU movie stemmed from the differing styles of directors Snyder and Joss Whedon – who was brought in through filming – and the convoluted story (not-to-mention Superman’s dreadful mustache).

The film’s box office disappointment and poor critical reviews resulted in an overhaul for the DCEU as the original vision for the shared universe was abandoned, and things became far more experimental – which ultimately brought Warner Bros. a lot of success.

However, that hasn’t stopped Snyder’s devoted following from championing the release of what they have since affectionately dubbed the ‘Snyder Cut’. This sparked a number of online petitions, public gatherings, watchalongs and the continued trending of #ReleaseTheSnyderCut on Twitter – the latter of which Batman and Wonder Woman actors Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot partook in.

Well, after all of that, it is now official: Zack Snyder’s Justice League is officially coming to HBO Max in 2021. Snyder confirmed the news during a watchalong of his film Man Of Steel. In a subsequent press release, he commented:

"“I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”"

This is news that is sure to break the internet because, after three years of campaigning, fans will finally be able to see what the director’s vision of the film was supposed to look like. A film that is significantly longer – and probably a lot less light-hearted – than its theatrical counterpart, it’s been a long time coming. And we can’t wait to see it!
