Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger)

2019 was Brie Larson’s coming out party as Captain Marvel, first starring in her solo blockbuster before joining the Avengers in Endgame. The actress has some passionate followers who can’t wait until Captain Marvel 2 arrives in 2022. Luckily, her latest film, Just Mercy, is now On Demand. The movie had its wide release in January and Larson gives an earnest supporting performance in it.

Just Mercy’s lead actor is Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan, adding another weighty role to his resume. Destin Daniel Cretton directed Just Mercy, marking the third feature film collaboration between him and Brie Larson. But his most important connection to the MCU is that he is currently directing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Will Captain Marvel meet the Master of Kung-Fu in Shang-Chi? The movie is scheduled to release on May 7, 2021.

Ben Mendelsohn (Talos)

Not only did Ben Mendelsohn surprise and delight us in Captain Marvel, he was a part of an unforeseen revelation in  Spider-Man: Far From Home, as his shapeshifting character, Talos, was posing as Nick Fury, while the real Fury headed up SWORD in space. This almost guarantees Mendelsohn a part in Captain Marvel 2.

Until then, Mendelsohn can be seen in the Stephen King adaptation The Outsider. He stars in the miniseries, where the supernatural elements are minimal but there is plenty of suspense. The show finished its run in March, so all episodes are now available on HBO On Demand.

Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), and William Hurt (Thunderbolt Ross)

Three of the MCU’s longest tenured actors are in The Last Full Measure, which came out in January and can now be found On Demand. The war film is yet another angle reflecting on the conflict in Vietnam as well as the bravery and the cost of the soldiers who served. While Jeremy Irvine plays the hero at the center of the story, Sebastian Stan is the protagonist who fights for the soldier to receive the Medal of Honor. Even though Stan has demonstrated his acting abilities over the years, The Last Full Measure proves that he can carry a movie, which is a good sign for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier; his MCU miniseries is set to arrive on Disney Plus later this year.

In The Last Full Measure, Samuel L. Jackson plays a soldier who witnessed the Medal of Honor recipient’s heroism first hand. Jackson was last seen in the MCU in Spider-Man: Far From Home and will hopefully continue to play Nick Fury for years to come. William Hurt fervently argues on his friend’s behalf in The Last Full Measure, delivering one of the strongest performances of the year thus far. Like Stan, Hurt is also expected to reprise his MCU role later this year; he is on Black Widow’s cast list.

Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther)

Like practically all other MCU heroes, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther fought against Thanos last year in Avengers: Endgame. The next time the King of Wakanda may grace us with his presence could be in Black Panther 2, a few years from now. Boseman does have several projects on his slate before then, including next month’s Spike Lee Joint Da 5 Bloods. The Vietnam war film features a large ensemble, though it looks like Boseman may have a key role. Netflix will start streaming Da 5 Bloods on June 12th.
