Stargirl co-creator Geoff Johns has revealed that it’s only a matter of time until the show crosses over with the Arrowverse.

Stargirl may primarily stream on the DC Universe, but it also airs weekly on The CW – which makes it, in some ways, related to the network’s umbrella of Arrowverse shows.

While this relationship was always a possibility given the sharing of the network, it was seemingly confirmed during this season’s Arrowverse crossover between ArrowThe FlashSupergirl, DC’s Legends of TomorrowBatwoman and Black Lightning – the heavily-anticipated Crisis On Infinite Earths – as it was revealed that the characters of Stargirl now lived on the newly-established Earth-2.

However, it might not be long until we see Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore cross over with the Arrowverse heroes in a more significant capacity. Stargirl co-creator Geoff Johns recently spoke to Comic Book Resources about the possibility of a crossover and sounded very eager. He commented:

"“We’re completely open to it. There’s so many possibilities. You know, clearly, we’re set on Earth-2, so we’re on our own Earth, much like the comic books. We’re set on Earth-2, and it gives us the room to tell our history and story, but also the opportunity in the future to do anything in the comic books or to always cross over with other places. Conversations have been had, but it’s all of matter of when it makes sense and if we have the best story.”"

Only a matter of time…

This isn’t the first time that conversations of a Stargirl/Arrowverse crossover have come up, as Bassinger herself recently revealed that there were talks of doing a one-on-one crossover with The Flash during the DC Universe show’s first season.

Given the matching tones of the shows, it would certainly have been a great idea, but as Stargirl was still focused on getting itself off the ground, it was wise to leave it until it established itself first.

Stargirl‘s premiere was met with critical acclaim and it has created a lot of buzz among fans of both the DC Universe and The CW. Meanwhile, there’s no denying that the Arrowverse is the biggest shared universe in television history, and any other superhero show is going to be compared to the ones that exist within it.

With that in mind, it would make a lot of sense to have Stargirl make her presence felt on at least one of the shows at some point in time.
