Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men films, is joining the MCU. New reports suggest he is set to appear on the Disney Plus show, WandaVision.

WandaVision, the ‘bonkers’ Marvel Cinematic Universe spin-off set to debut on Disney Plus, appears to have a new cast member. An as-yet unconfirmed report from Murphy’s Multiverse states that Evan Peters has signed onto the show.

Which MCU role Peters will be stepping in to play remains a mystery, but the character will apparently be a significant one on the show. If true, Peters will join Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo and Kathryn Hahn.

Could Quicksilver be returning to WandaVision?

Peters is best known among the geek community for playing Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and also starred in the sequels X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Considering Quicksilver is Wanda’s twin brother, speculation is rife that Peters will be reprising that role. Fox and Disney went through a merger last year, which adds fuel to the speculation.

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

Wanda never appeared in the X-Men films, but Quicksilver has already appeared in the MCU, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron. People are still holding out hope that Taylor-Johnson will cameo on WandaVision, but it’s also possible that Peters will be playing an alternate version of Quicksilver. The prospect of a multiverse in the MCU was hinted at in Spider-Man: Far from Home and since then the possibility of the existing live-action characters from the X-Men franchise entering the universe has captured people’s imagination.

Not much is known about WandaVision, but Olsen remarked that the show is a mashup of sitcoms and the Marvel films. Initial teasers attest to its unconventional tone and fans are cautiously excited about the show’s eventual arrival on the streaming service.
