Batwoman season 2: Kate Kane’s REAL fate revealed by showrunner
Showrunner Caroline Dries has cleared up all the uncertainty by revealing what’s really going to happen to Kate Kane in Batwoman season 2.
Considering Batwoman only concluded its debut season (with an impromptu finale) a few weeks ago, it’s hard to believe just how much uncertainty there is surrounding the future of the Arrowverse show right now. And it all started with the announcement that Ruby Rose would not be reprising her role as the Scarlet Knight in Batwoman season 2.
With rumors of recasts and reboots leaving fans totally confused, it was eventually confirmed that the show would be writing Kate Kane out and bringing in a new Batwoman in Ryan Wilder. While that upset some fans, the thing that proved to be too much was the recent rumor that the show planned to kill Kate off in order to make way for the new vigilante.
Thankfully, Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries has cleared up a lot of confusion in a social media post that will undoubtedly put all of the Kate Kane fans’ minds at ease. You can check out her tweet below:
In an emotional post, Dries revealed that she was aware of the uncertainty right now and wanted to clear some of it up for the devoted fans of the show. She also enforced that she was well aware of the “Bury Your Gays” trope and ensured fans that Batwoman would not be partaking in it.
As for how the show will tackle Kate’s absence, Dries also followed up on that, commenting:
"“Like you, I love Kate Kane — she’s the reason I wanted to do the show. We’ll never erase her. In fact, her disappearance will be one of the mysteries of season two.”"
While this has indeed settled some of the unrest, there are still an abundance of fans upset at the idea of replacing such a legendary comic book character with a new, original character.

It’s hard to argue with them because Kate Kane is undoubtedly an icon, but it’s also clear that the show wanted to come up with a way of moving forward without Ruby Rose while still respecting everything she put into the character.
As for who will play the new Scarlet Knight, there are rumors of a certain CW veteran stepping into the role, but we have yet to hear an official announcement.
