Harley and The Joker go on an adventure to save Gotham and their relationships in the latest episode of Harley Quinn season 2, “The Fight Worth Fighting For”.

Previously on Harley Quinn season 2, Harley decided that the best way for her to get over Poison Ivy was to go out and have sex. What she got was an adventure with a bartender who doesn’t remember that he’s the Joker.

On top of that, she ended up in a fight with a now-buff Riddler and her former teammate Dr. Psycho who was controlling parademons and her friends Clayface and King Shark. Thankfully, she escaped. Now, she had to find the Queen of Fables book and release the Justice League.

In order to do that, she had to bring back Joker.

What did the five fingers say to Joker’s face?

The episodes almost always start with something silly, but this one was so good. Frank the Plant breaks down everything that happened in the previous episode. Pretty normal right? Wrong! He’s only doing it because the producers say he tests well and they try to shoehorn him into the show (his words). He’s also trying to make bids for Harley Quinn to win awards. Saying things like, “This is some George double-R Martin Emmy Award winning (censored).” Then, the episode officially starts.

Joker emerges from the acid. He laughs as the acid drips from him. He approaches Harley and she starts repeatedly slapping him.

Yep, this is what’s going on. In the previous episode, it seemed like Harley may have been falling in love with Joker. Thankfully, this isn’t the case. She just wants the Queen of Fables book so she can save Gotham. You gotta love how she still realizes that Joker is no good for her. It’s a big step for her, especially considering how emotionally vulnerable she is.

Khaki shorts and Hawaiian shirts

Before Joker and Harley Quinn could begin the trek for the Queen of Fables‘ book, Joker has flashbacks of all the things he did while he wasn’t himself. His six months of his life had him, quote, “Wearing khaki shorts, a Hawaiian shirt, and a cellphone clip attached to my belt!” Needless to say, he is reluctant to help. Thankfully, Harley has a plan, telling him that she planted a bomb in his head that will explode if he doesn’t help her. So, off they go to Joker’s old house.

It’s certain we all wondered what Joker’s life was like while he wasn’t a psychotic and heartless murderer. What we discover is that his ex-girlfriend Bethany isn’t someone who takes any mess from anyone. When someone was going to attack her boyfriend, she broke a glass bottle and threatened to cut him. Considering she’s a single mother in Gotham, we shouldn’t be shocked by her toughness. Nonetheless, it was great to see Joker being the weak one for a change.

Poison Ivy’s wedding planning

Amidst all of the carnage the parademons are causing, Poison Ivy and Kite Man (Hell yeah!) are still going through with the wedding. Kite Man seems reluctant. and it’s easy to see why with parademons killing people, ruining their fondue fountain, and flying away with their wedding planner. It’s Ivy who wants to rush things, because she figures that if they get married soon, she’ll get over her love for Harley Quinn.

This was a classic romcom move where one person clearly loves someone else but won’t go through with what they really want. In typical Harley Quinn fashion, they did it in an entertaining way. The whole parademon thing was clearly just their way of pulling this scenario creatively as the subtext said it all. It was well done.

Also, $13,000 for a wedding dress?! Wedding dress-makers are worse criminals than the supervillains in Gotham.

A fantastic episode. Everything about it was phenomenal from start to finish. In between all of the chaos, Joker evolves. Even weirder, he helped Harley give it one more shot with Poison Ivy. Frank the Plant is right. This is some award-winning (censored).. Harley Quinn. S2E11. A Fight Worth Fighting For. A+

Quotes about Quinn

  • Adding some Batman Returns and Batman Begins references in Bruce’s dialogue was incredible! The writers really understand their audience.
  • How is anyone alive in Gotham at this point? Considering all the killing that’s gone on, how is the population not 100 people tops? And 50% of those are probably villains or Bat-Family members.

Riddler is the worst sidekick ever. He essentially lost his intelligence after he became buff.

Even Darkseid won’t say that word. That’s how nasty Dr. Psycho is.

Seeing parademons cuddling was disturbing and hilarious.

Dr. Psycho’s explanation for hating women is the dumbest thing ever. Also, it tracks considering who he is.
