Ben Urich

Daredevil was the best Marvel comic book series of all time. It wasn’t just the main characters that made it incredible, as the supporting characters helped make it everything that it was. Chief among them was Ben Urich played by Vondie Curtis-Hall.

Urich’s effects on the Marvel Netflix shows were felt even after he died, but it is a real shame he was killed off in the first place. We could have gotten a lot out of the Daredevil/Matt Murdock and Ben Urich relationship.

Ben Urich is an amazing reporter. So much so that, in the comics, he figured out Matt Murdock was Daredevil on his own. As time went on, the two of them developed a friendship and trust that was deeper than even Urich realized. When Matt Murdock was lost, Urich was the person Matt trusted to protect his wife. Imagine if the Daredevil series had explored all of this.

Yes, it still would have been short-lived. Daredevil was prematurely canceled along with the other Marvel Netflix shows. Now, since the Netflix universe is connected to the MCU, they may not be able to use him back at all. It would have been cool to see him in a Disney Plus show. The only good thing that came out of his death was that gripping, well-performed scene between him and Kingpin.
