MCU: Has Marvel Studios just found the director for Captain Marvel 2?
The Mandalorian director Deborah Chow is currently in talks to direct an unknown project for Marvel Studios.
With the entertainment industry slowly beginning to open up their doors (with protective measures in place), the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seemingly setting things in motion for its next chapter.
Turns out the Walt Disney Company may have plucked out the cream of the crop of film and TV producing talent from their other production arm: Lucasfilm. Meet Deborah Chow: A multi-award winning screenwriter, film and TV director best known for The High Cost of Living as well as for directing episodes for The Mandalorian on Disney Plus. Her other small screen directing credits include Copper, The CW Network’s Reign, Beauty and the Beast and Mr. Robot.
According to MCUCosmic, Marvel Studios are in talks to have Deborah come on board to work on potential projects – whether it be films or TV. Deborah is no stranger to Marvel, having directed one episode each of Netflix shows Iron Fist and Jessica Jones.

Currently attached to direct the unnamed Obi-Wan Kenobi original series for Disney Plus, Chow must suitably feel right at home under the Disney umbrella. In regards to Marvel Studios projects, there is speculation that the most likely film Deborah is likely to take on the reins of is Captain Marvel 2, which is scheduled for release in July 2022. Although there have also been rumors that the studio has eyed Michelle MacLaren to direct.
On the small screen, however, there is a wish list of Disney Plus shows to direct with the likes of Hawkeye, Ms Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk yet to have a television director attached. However, since most of these productions are set to start filming this year, the director may not yet receive the opportunity to direct one of these ones in particular.
There are also rumors circling around in-development MCU projects beyond Phase Four such as Secret Invasion, Ironheart and Nova just to name a few.
