The Flash: Michael Keaton will don the Batsuit in his return as Batman
Batman is back! Michael Keaton’s return to his most famous role in The Flash will feature the Batsuit.
The comic book world was shocked beyond words when it was revealed that former Batman Michael Keaton was in talks to return to his most famous role in 2022 DCEU film The Flash.
That original announcement suggested that Keaton would reprise his role as Bruce Wayne in the film, but subsequent uncertainty and conflicting rumors left fans thinking that he would just appear in a cameo as Bruce (much like Batman: The Animated Series legend Kevin Conroy did in the Arrowverse’s Crisis On Infinite Earths) or as Thomas Wayne in the Flashpoint universe. However, it turns out that it will be neither.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the veteran will indeed be appearing as Bruce Wayne, but he will also don the Batsuit at some point in the 2022 film.
How will Michael Keaton become Batman again in The Flash?
The notion of Keaton donning the Batsuit is an exciting one. The actor portrayed the DC Comics superhero in Tim Burton’s 1989 classic Batman, before reprising the role in 1992’s sequel Batman Returns. But how could it happen again in the upcoming Ezra Miller-led The Flash?

The film has long been rumored to be adapting the 2011 game-changing storyline Flashpoint and will see Barry Allen travel back in time to save his mother and, in the process, accidentally create a brand new timeline. Not only would this allow Warner Bros. to scrub some of the elements of the DC Extended Universe that fans didn’t respond well to, it would also allow Keaton to take over from Ben Affleck as the DCEU’s Caped Crusader.
Rumor has it that he could end up playing a pivotal role in the shared universe moving forward, serving as a Nick Fury-esque figure to the future generation of the Bat-Family, with a potential appearance in the long-teased Batgirl film being a strong possibility.
The Flash hits theaters on June 3, 2022. Are you excited to see the return of Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight? Let us know in the comments below!
