Awful parents

First, let’s look at the beginning of his life. Kite Man’s parents are unforgivably terrible people. First off, they’re supervillains – and not in the Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy way. They’re the ones that have no problem killing innocents.

Beyond them being murderers, they were ashamed of their son from the moment they realized he didn’t have powers. Ever since then, he’s had a bit of a complex. He’s done nothing but try to make them proud. Unfortunately, nothing he could ever do would be good enough for them. The only time they were proud was when he was dating Ivy – even then, they only loved her because she had powers. That meant they’d hopefully have kids with powers.

Imagine what that does to a kid. Never being able to get your parents’ approval and love in spite of how much you need. It’s clear that it impacted him a great deal because he even became a costume-themed bad-guy in hopes of getting their love. But even if he was the best kid in the world, his parents still would’ve been disappointed.

Realistically, Kite Man is a great guy. He loves hard and does whatever he can to help his friends. He’s constantly put himself in danger to protect them despite always being severely out-powered and outmatched. Those are qualities of a good person. And those are the qualities of Kite Man.
