His relationship with Poison Ivy

Kite Man did everything he could for Poison Ivy and she appreciated it. It’s neither of their faults that Ivy fell in love with Harley Quinn – besides the fact that she wasn’t able to admit that she loved Harley (at first), she didn’t want to hurt him.

The sad thing is that he always felt like she was out of his league – that’s why he went above and beyond to make her happy. Going as far as to face his fear of traps (seriously, a villain scared of traps) to get Ivy the perfect engagement ring. The end result was him being brutally beaten by traps (fear justified). A gesture that was loved even though Ivy hated the way the ring looked. It should also be acknowledged that Harley helped Kite Man regardless of her feelings for Ivy.

Ivy and Kite Man went through more than a few mishaps in their relationship. Ivy died, turned down his proposal, and they then couldn’t even get the venue he wanted. Then, he had to witness Ivy and Harley being intimate while they were on Themyscira for the bachelorette party. That might have been enough, but he still gave love another chance.

The last straw was the destruction of their wedding. He knew in his heart that it wasn’t going to work, but he tried anyway. In the end, he let her go so she could be truly happy.
