Javicia Leslie will now play Batwoman in The CW series. Before she makes her debut replacing Ruby Rose, here is everything you need to know about her.

What a journey it has been for us Batwoman fans as of late, huh? First, Ruby Rose dropped a bombshell some months back that she was stepping away from the show after just the first season. Then, we got another bombshell in learning that not only will Rose be replaced, but her character would be as wellwith an entirely new character stepping into Kate Kane’s bat shoes for season 2.

Everyone has had an opinion as far as who should or could drape the prestigious cape behind their backs next, but we need not speculate any longer. Why? Because we have a new Batwoman and her name is Javicia Leslie!

Upon hearing her name and seeing her face, two things sprang to mind: The excitement of seeing Black person don the bat ears, and, for those unfamiliar with her work, the intrigue as to who she was.

If you had the latter reaction, don’t feel bad. You might not know Javicia Leslie’s work but that might actually be a good thing because casting an actor that not all fans are familiar with is a great way for audiences to see them clearly as the character they play. However, it also leaves a lot of questions open for fans interested to learn more about Leslie herself.
