Snake Eyes and the future of the G.I. Joe franchise
Where can the G.I. Joe’s future could potentially lead?
There’s a strong possibility that the future stories of the G.I. Joe franchise could be the best in the series thus far.
With new Joes and new Cobras to fight, this could very well launch a big, right future for the G.I. Joes. I say this because the franchise’s producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura also helped bring the original Transformers to life.
Interestingly enough, IDW has crossed the two brands over before in the comics in G.I. Joes versus The Transformers. How much would you like to bet that the idea hasn’t been at least considered by the powers-that-be?
We’re living in an age where property crossovers are more possible than ever before. After all Sony Pictures recently just extended their deal with Marvel Studios for Spider-Man and Tom Holland, with rumors of an MCU crossover taking place within Sony’s standalone Marvel Universe. Speaking of Marvel, they recently acquired the comic rights to both the Alien and Predator franchises (two move monsters known for their crossovers) and the video games Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur having been doing cross-promotional characters for years.
The ever-evolving world of film, television and comic books is continuing to change the game for potential stories and there are so many possibilities for the future of G.I. Joe.
Do you think that the G.I. Joe franchise will flourish with Snake Eyes? What are you hoping to see from the future of the film series? Is a Transformers crossover a possibility? Let us know in the comments below!
