Major Marvel character undergoes huge change in Empyre
Marvel character She-Hulk undergoes another unexpected change within the pages of Empyre No.1, but is it a permanent one?
Comic Book Resources has exclusively revealed that She-Hulk will be undergoing a major change at Marvel Comics. Receiving an exclusive preview of Empyre No.1, by writers Al Ewing and Dan Slott and with art from Valerio Schiti, they revealed the extent of this unexpected change.
For the 40 years of her publication history, the key distinction between Jennifer Walters and her cousin has been this: Unlike Bruce Banner aka Hulk, she does not endure multiple personalities with varying degrees of intellect. Jen is capable of retaining her mental faculties in both her base and her green-skinned Amazonian form.
As of recently, however, the She-Hulk has lost the ability to maintain her rational train of thought . This came after the confrontation of the Celestials. Exposure to additional doses of gamma radiation from a Celestial caused Jen to increase her power levels exponentially and ultimately made her She-Hulk persona bulkier and more savage than usual.

She-Hulk, nowadays referred to as “Hulk” in her own right, inside the pages of Empyre No.1, somehow regained her ability to think and communicate with more clarity due to the possession of a mystery hammer. It is not yet known if Jen is capable of maintaining full use of her intellect between forms without the hammer, as shown when she conferred with Thor using the hammer.
The Empyre storyline follows the events of the one-shot comic Incoming! Published Dec. 26, 2019, wherein the events are centered on a mysterious murder, the victim is revealed by Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four to be a former Kree warrior – and Teddy Altman aka Hulkling accepted the offer to be the new ruler of the Kree-Skrull Alliance.
Following the lead-up to Empyre, the Avengers and the Fantastic Four join forces to prevent an alien invasion.
