The DCEU could be tapping into the darker side of DC Comics as Zatanna Zatara may be getting a solo movie. Here are some enchanting actresses who’d kill the role.

DC fans know how little service the DCEU paid to the comic book source. There’s still a question mark over which direction, if any, Warner Bros has with their DC Extended Universe, but it’s clear they want to exploit all parts of DC Comics — especially the darker side.

Justice League Dark will rise on HBO Max in the form of a series. We expect many of our favorite characters from the group of eerie supernatural heroes to make an appearance. However, one Justice League Dark member may or may not make her presence felt in the series as DCEU Mythic now suggests that Zatanna Zatara is getting her own movie.

Zatanna is a fan-favorite with a life and story all her own before becoming a member of both the Justice League and Justice League Dark. Her rich history stems from her ancestors, a powerful race of magicians, warlocks, and witches, known as the Hidden Ones aka Homo Maji. She’s the daughter and stage partner of the great crime-fighting magician, John Zatara. Zatanna’s mother, Sindella, was also a Homo Maji who faked her death after giving birth to return home.

The Zatara saga is a story of family and sacrifice. Zatanna goes on her own adventure in a coming of age story. However, fans of the comics will tell you, she hasn’t always received the best treatment. And there’s a ton of wiggle room for creative.

Warner Bros could go a few ways with casting Zatanna in terms of age. One fan-favorite whose name has popped up for years in fancasts is 34-year-old Alexandra Daddario, who starred in films like San Andreas, The Layover, and Baywatch.

There’s no denying Daddario’s ability to play the magic-wielding hero. However, there are other actresses who’d kill the role, including some lesser-known talents waiting for their big break.
